Early Childhood Teacher (Infants–Pre-K) ~ Full Time

Emmanuel Christian Academy (Emmanuel) is a non-profit school organization representing Jesus Christ throughout our evangelical local Christian community.  Emmanuel requires its employees to be born- again Christians, living their lives as Christian role models (Romans 10:9-10; I Timothy 4:12).  Employees shall conduct themselves in a way that will not raise questions regarding their Christian testimony.  

Early Childhood Education Teacher Job Summary:

To encourage the healthy intellectual and psychological growth of the children in our facilities. To teach and supervise young children while also motivating them to use their mental capacities and exercise their imagination incorporate learning opportunities using a child’s natural inclination to play. Create and implement activities and lesson plans that simultaneously engage and educate children.  In addition to teaching provide diverse basic care needs, including supplying proper nutrition, performing cleaning duties and dealing with behavioral issues. Also tasked with speaking with parents to discuss a child’s educational development. This person must be able to effectively supervise other staff assisting in the classroom, be sensitive to the needs of individual children and relate well to both the children and adults.

  • Plan both long- and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy. Complete lesson plans.
  • Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child 
  • Coordinate field trips 
  • Complete annual assessment of children’s development 
  • Design and follow a full schedule of activities and discover suitable teaching material
  • Balance your teaching between logical and social exercises
  • Provide basic care and caregiving activities
  • Use a wide range of teaching methods (stories, media, indoor or outdoor games, drawing etc) to enhance the child’s abilities
  • Remain in constant communication with parents and update them on the progress of their children
  • Observe children’s interactions and promote the spirit of concord
  • Identify behavioral problems and determine the right course of action
  • Collaborate with other colleagues
  • Report progress of children to parents in annual reports and through parent-teacher conferences 
  • Maintain daily open communication with parents 
  • Maintain anecdotal records 
  • Maintain confidentiality 
  • Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy 
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment 
  • Attend in service, courses to keep credentials updated. Meet all applicable licensing regulations 
  • Supervise assistants, aides and volunteers in the classroom 
  • Adhere with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by the Ohio Department of Education


  • Must have a Child Development Associate Credential, or an Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education
  • Proven experience as a childcare teacher
  • Excellent knowledge of child development and up-to-date education methods
  • Methodical and creative
  • Patience, flexibility and love for children
  • Strong communication and time management skills
