Director of Marketing and Development JOB SUMMARY

DESCRIPTION: (in addition to the General Guidelines and Expectations) The Marketing Director will oversee, coordinate, and participate in the development of marketing strategies and products for the organization.  Reporting to and in partnership with the Chief School Administrator 

Supervisor: Head of Schools and Chief School Administrator
Job Classification: Admin-Exempt

  • Communicates, publicize, and advertises school activities and fundraiser via the media, website, Instagram, twitter, Facebook, newspapers, and news stations)
  • Assist in Overseeing organization of special events, work closely with Facilities Manager, Head of Schools, Art and Marketing Director and Business Manager to ensure smooth operation of school programs. Events and business.
  • Prepare all school related materials and activities (letters, memos, awards, scheduling rooms, field trips with transportation, pictures, and teachers prep materials, running Ren web report and rosters, emergency books, report cards, etc.)
  • Participate as part of Board appointed development committee and sub fundraising committees. (e.g. recorder, reporter, concert program book)
  • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors. Communicates to donors, foundations, and other stakeholders via Christmas cards, thank you cards, invitations and announcement of upcoming events and programs.
  • Maintain accurate development files, quarterly school e-newsletters and monthly calendar
  • Research and writing of new grants to foundations and organizations.
  • Developing and tracking proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising. Responsible for data entry and gift processing in RenWeb donors connect.
  • Participate as part of Board appointed development committee and sub fundraising committees. (e.g. recorder, reporter, concert program book)
  • Coordinator efficient use of volunteers for all Emmanuel fundraising activities (Concert, Concert Program ad book, Letter writing campaign, Black History Program, Christmas program, vendor’s fair etc.)
  • Taking Pictures of events/Running Sound Board for events, creating videos for events.
  • Research demographic of area, students, and other schools, (poverty count, parents, home school, what areas we serve, church denominations, academics demographics, tracking of students here and when they leave etc.…)
  • Develop relationships with parents as volunteers to help with development
  • Assist in creating and executing a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors. (e.g. Create an alumni association)
  • Submit monthly written reports to the Principal/ Administrator. Meet regularly with administration.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
  • Research individuals, corporations, and foundations that may be interested in gift-giving
  • Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors
  • Craft grant applications and fundraising proposals
  • Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns
  • Organize fundraising events while overseeing teams of volunteers
  • Manage a budget and track whether goals are being met

Other responsibilities

  • In the Main Office
  • Assist in answering the phones when necessary
  • Assist in helping with people at the front desk
  • Cover the font office week when the Registrar is not there

  • A Bachelor’s or higher degree, Business Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field required.
  • A passion for research
  • Adept at managing tasks, planning events, and balancing priorities
  • Adobe Suite mastery (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Basic knowledge of both basic and advanced design principles as they pertain to graphic design, advertising, and multimedia
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of market developments.
  • Understanding of marketing strategies and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, basic operation of a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
