Elementary School Teacher (K–3rd) ~ Full Time

Position Overview Emmanuel Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Elementary School Teacher who is committed to academic excellence, spiritual growth, and the holistic development of every child. The ideal candidate will provide developmentally appropriate instruction that nurtures students’ academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. This role emphasizes strong foundational skills in literacy and numeracy, a positive and structured classroom community, and differentiated support to meet the needs of diverse learners.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Standards‑Aligned Instruction — Plan and deliver engaging lessons in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies aligned with state standards and school curriculum.

  • Foundational Literacy Development — Implement effective phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies appropriate for early elementary learners.

  • Classroom Community — Establish routines, expectations, and a supportive environment that promotes independence, cooperation, and positive behavior.

  • Differentiation — Adapt instruction, materials, and assessments to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those requiring intervention or enrichment.

  • Assessment & Progress Monitoring — Use formative and summative assessments to track student growth, guide instruction, and maintain accurate records.

  • Family Partnerships — Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding academic progress, behavior, and classroom activities.

  • Collaboration — Work closely with grade‑level teams, specialists, and support staff to coordinate instruction and student support.

  • Student Support — Foster students’ social‑emotional development, including conflict resolution, self‑regulation, and problem‑solving skills.

  • Professional Growth — Participate in professional learning communities, training, and reflective practice to strengthen instructional effectiveness.

 

Mental & Emotional Requirements

  • Maintain calm, patience, and professionalism when addressing student needs or unexpected situations.

  • Demonstrate empathy and sensitivity to children’s developmental and emotional needs.

  • Sustain focus while monitoring multiple students and activities.

  • Make sound, timely decisions regarding safety, behavior, and instructional adjustments.

  • Work effectively in a busy, high‑energy environment with frequent interruptions.

  • Guide students through peer conflicts and emotional regulation.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the classroom for extended periods (6–8 hours).

  • Occasionally lift or move classroom materials or equipment (25–40 lbs).

  • Engage in frequent bending, reaching, writing, typing, and use of instructional tools.

  • Supervise recess, arrival/dismissal, and field trips in varying weather conditions.

  • Observe student behavior and hear conversations and safety cues in a busy environment.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited institution.

  • Valid Ohio teaching license or non‑tax certification.

  • Strong understanding of early childhood development, literacy instruction, and classroom management.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
