2021 Summer Reading Assignments

Greeting Emmanuel Students and Parents,

In order to ensure a successful start to the next school year, please encourage your child to read throughout the summer. Research is clear, students who don’t read over the summer can regress or lose skills equivalent to a little over two months of learning. In order to retain all that you’ve acquired academically and to increase comprehension and expand vocabulary, students should read at least 20 minutes daily over the summer.
For this reason, all Emmanuel students are assigned Summer Reading Assignments.

Summer reading and their corresponding Story Maps/Worksheets/Writing Project are to be completed and returned on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Teachers will review each submission and assign points and/or rewards based on the completed works. This assignment will count as your/your student’s first Reading/Language Arts grade.

Reading can be fun! Where an option exists, you are encouraged to select a book that is interesting to you/your student. Most books are available free of charge, at your local library in hard copy, downloadable, as well as
audio books. If they are not available at your library, you may purchase them from your favorite book vendor.

HAPPY READING FAMILY! BE BLESSED!
