MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH TEACHERS

Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Work is performed under the supervision of the principal

Job Classification: Faculty-Exempt

  1. Able to teach the Word of God to students.
  2. Prepare exciting, practical, and applicable academic and Biblical lessons.
  3. Have a genuine desire to work with and care for children.
  4. Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  5. Develops schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.
  6. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  7. Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  8. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  9. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  10. Provide appropriate feedback on work.
  11. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  12. Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
  13. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, and school policies and regulations.
  14. Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  15. Participate in department, school, and parent meetings.
  16. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  17. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Prepare the classroom for class activities.
  18. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  19. Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.
  20. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments

Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following

  1. Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  2. Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  3. Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  4. Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.
  5. Other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Ability Required:

  1. B.A/B.S degree in from an accredited institution with a specialization in mathematics or equivalent.
  2. Ohio teaching or Non-tax certification required.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  5. Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  6. Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
  7. A thorough understanding of best practices in teaching.
  8. Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
  9. Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, and state.

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
